(WB):What can one expect as an ultimate winner?

Mr. H: One of the most important barriers to building bridges with mainstream culture is the stigma and lack of education regarding the LGBTQA+ community, therefore Mr. Gay Namibia strives to use its platform to empower oppressed individuals through education. Mr. Gay Namibia will utilize the media to share its mission and values, as well as to provide recognition of the rights and barriers (both legal and social) faced by this community. Mr. Gay Namibia will utilize local community members (both LGBTQA+ and non) to act as activists to share information, and spread awareness.

(WB): Any celebrity judges?
Mr. H: Yes, we have Celebrities within our country however we can’t reveal our Judges at this point in time.
(WB):Fair enough. Next question, How unique will the 2018 Mr. Gay Namibia be compared to the previous pageants?

Mr. H: This year Mr. Gay Namibia invites individuals from all walks of life regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity to celebrate the beauty and diversity of Namibia. This pageant encourages individuals, groups, and the media who identify with dominant and mainstream culture to join hands with the gay community to strengthen relationships, network, and celebrate the progress made within our county. It is within these connections that we will fight together to continue to strengthen and give a voice to vulnerable communities. Through the utilization of the local and active media, we hope to share our mission and values to the broader population, to encourage linkage and interaction between the mainstream and the LGBTQA+ community.
